Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Group South Africa
Annual POA Meeting & Gala Dinner
20-24 January 2008
Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa
Cape Town

INHOUSE Venue Technical Management (IVTM) at Cape Town's Lagoon Beach Hotel was responsible for the planning and implementation of technical aspects for the annual POA meeting and gala dinner of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (South Africa). The event's notable opening ceremony was attended by 300 delegates who subsequently spread out over twelve breakaway rooms for four days of conferencing in January.

INHOUSE VTM supplied Pfizer with audio that packed the necessary punch to complement the inspirational opening video which was screened on three large projection screens and multiple plasmas. Coupled with the audio visual display, an array of intelligent and generic lights and an exciting indoor pyrotechnics display timed to coincide with the video finale, wowed the Opening Ceremony audience.

In keeping with the IVTM's ethos of service excellence, the INHOUSE team not only provided the Audio Visual solutions for all twelve breakaway areas, but also ensured that trained technicians were on standby throughout the event to meet impromptu requests and facilitate the smooth running of the conference and Gala dinner.

Beneath an expansive Bedouin tent and adjacent to the Spa on the roof of the hotel, IVTM created a unique mood to meet the client's brief of a "gala dinner with a difference". Together with sister company Gearhouse SA; the company built a stage spanning the swimming pool for the annual Pfizer prize giving and the jazz band to follow. Pulling out all the creative stops, the team designed an extraordinary lighting surround which effectively transported the guests out of work-mode. The lighting design's aim was two-fold, firstly to induce a relaxed and intimate ambience and also to regularly transform the look of the tent, keeping the mood dynamic and fresh throughout the evening. The event was broadcast to the attendees on multiple plasmas.

Creativity aside, the practicalities of the event demanded some intensive forward planning as well. To circumvent possible load-shedding the event was run off Gearhouse generator power throughout, insuring that the whole conference ran seamlessly and without interruption.

IVTM's client on the conference, Kobus Van Wyk of Production Magix was more than satisfied with the service received from IVTM. "I just want to express my sincere thanks to the entire team at INHOUSE Venue Management for the excellent service we received from you all during the Pfizer conference at Lagoon Beach. It is always nice to know that you have a competent technical team onboard and having worked with most staging companies throughout South Africa, I would definitely recommend anyone who is planning a conference and or event at Lagoon Beach to make use of your services. Once again thank you very much and I look forward to working with you again soon."
